Here is my typical setup at an event. I normally use the Lastolite Studio Hilite with a train. This is a great bit of kit, very portable, easy to set up and once you get the knack easy to put away.

There are three issues I think with the Lastolite Studio Hilite, but all easily solved.

1. Practice how to fold it away, once you learn how, it takes seconds. Otherwise you look a bit of a fool when you are packing your gear away, I did.....

2. The lastolite dog bone: After time the steel tends to loose a bit of its memory and it can sag inwards in the middle, so it looks like a giant dog bone. I fix this with two bungee strap hooked on the steel and around the lights. It does not take much to keep them straight.

3. The Floor: As the actual background is independently light and as there is no infinity curve the floor can be difficult to light. You can raise the height of the main lights to bounce of the floor but that can over expose your subjects. You will notice on the above picture that just in front of the highlight, pointing down there are two lights, (150w at lowest power) this burns out the floor especially behind and in between the subjects legs. Although a little bit of work might be needed to clean up the floor in front (Photoshop dodge tool set at about 15% works for me) it then only takes seconds.

This is vey important when doing printing on-site event photography , as you just dont have the time to clean up the floor. Shooting full length does give you extra issues to overcome but they are easily solved and your order values will rise dramatically. The image below is untouched, 10 seconds in PS and your done.

Although this is the middle size Lastolite Studio Hilite, you can get some people on if you stack them.
